GENERAL KNOWLEDGE EXAM

It is interesting to see the origin of certain words. Let's look at:

CUSTOMS: The word customs is an abbreviation of the term 'customary dues'. It means a tax imposed on certain goods imported or exported.  This form of tax dates back to the reign of Richard I when a tax was levied on wine imports.  Before that, however, the Greeks had made to use of this form of taxation.
